How to borrow a kit

Drop me a line and let me know the dates you'd like to borrow and what you'd like!  It's as easy as that.

Collection and return

Collection and return is from E3 5EF.  Covid-safe collection is available.  I am happy to include rucksacks/bags for easy transportation.

Washing the kit

Please return the food kit washed and dried.  By doing this you are helping keep this kit cost-free for others to borrow in the future.

How to borrow...

What is your policy for damaged products?

We charge a small deposit for losses or breakages.  Please treat this kit well so it can be lent to other party-goers for years to come.

This crockery is made from plastic...isn't that environmentally unfriendly?

Plastic is fantastic!  You heard it here first.  Well I expect you didn't think you'd hear that on an eco site did you?  Plastic is strong, light, durable and inexpensive...and most importantly in this context, it's REUSEABLE!  The villain of this story is single use plastic (SUP).  This is anything that can only be used once and is then thrown away.  For example, the plastic wrapping in food items, pre-packaged veg, the plastic bag my frozen sweetcorn comes in, the plastic of disposable plates and cups we mostly see at parties.  I've bought good quality, reusable plastic as recommended by The Party Kit Network and with care it will be reused many many times and save hundreds of items from landfill.

Is it really free?

I would like to keep the kit free to borrow.  I think people are more likely to use it if it's cheaper than buying disposables.

However I have put in the initial outlay into buying the kit myself (I don't count the time involved as I've spent many hours sewing the decorations) and I don't want to keep buying more kit if things are lost.

So I'm charging a small deposit of around £20-40 and will retain part of this if items are missing from the kit when it's returned.

Also, I don't want to be putting an excess amount of time and my limited energy into the kit once it's up and running.  With this in mind I'm asking that the tableware is returned to me washed and dried so it's ready for the next borrower.

If I find that it's being returned without being washed I will start to charge a washing up fee.  I would very much rather not do this so I hope people will respect my request to wash up!

And again...is it really free?  That doesn't seem right!

I'm really determined to keep this free.  It's something I want to do and I don't need it to be part of my income.

However, borrowers have asked me if they can give something towards it and I would request that if you are so inclined, please could you make a donation to Bow Food Bank.  You can do this directly by clicking here.

Thank you!
